At Octopus, we're dedicated to connect passionate people in the entertainment industry. We want to provide a sustainable solution for trading high quality second-hand equipment.

How did we end up here?

Most people in the entertainment industry (ourselves included) are passionate about the gear we use for different productions. We're all basically a bunch of audio visual nerds that find equipment extremely exciting, and somewhere along they way we tend to end up with more gear than needed.

We also face challenges when it comes to managing and maintaining our equipment, especially as it ages or becomes outdated. Keeping your inventory fresh and up-to-date while retaining a stock that is actually utilized is a constant struggle. We at Spectre have experienced all of this firsthand and decided it was time to part with some of the gear that had been collecting dust in our warehouse for way too long.

The only question was: Where can we sell it?

The solution we came up with: Create Octopus!

Who is Octopus for?

Octopus was made first and foremost to suit our own needs, but we quickly acknowledged that trading equipment was challanging for others as well. The marketplace includes a broad variety of users, and they come in all shapes, colors and sizes: Companies within rental and production, venues, retailers, theatres, cultural institutions etc. We also have a growing community of private users, and the bottom line will always be:

As a Miljøfyrtårn (Eco-Lighthouse) certified company, we take sustainability seriously and continuously work to improve our environmental impact by reducing emissions and promoting greener solutions. One of our key initiatives is this very platform—Octopus—which focuses on reuse and helps extend the lifespan of equipment.
